I’d like to take this opportunity to tell you a bit about myself. Since taking the reins, so to speak, of the former Powder Ridge Equine Veterinary Service, I have come to realize that many of you would like to know who the new veterinarian is on the other end of the phone line when you call Dr. Dan Feeney’s old phone number. I would like to assure you that more than just the address and phone numbers will remain the same. As clients of Dr. Feeney, must of you have become accustomed to a level of care and compassion that is hard to match. I think you will be pleased and relieved to discover that tradition will continue once you meet me. I have dedicated my career to practicing Equine Medicine exclusively. I hold a BS in Animal Science from Cornell University, which is also where I graduated from Veterinary School in 1998. I have practiced Equine Medicine throughout parts of Eastern and Western Connecticut since then, most recently in the Fairfield County area. I have also been a resident veterinarian on a large farm breeding Standardbred racehorses. A lifelong horseperson, I rode hunt seat with a little eventing throughout my childhood, even playing polo while in college at Cornell. These days I find myself with little time to train for competition, primarily riding trails for relaxation on my Clydesdale. I also count a Quarter Horse, Dalmatian and a Doberman mix as family members. I have a keen understanding of the many roles that horses play in our lives. Whether yours are elite athletes or backyard pets, their health and welfare are of utmost importance and should never be taken for granted.

The relationship between a horse owner and their veterinarian is one built on trust and mutual understanding. You need to feel comfortable that your horses are in good hands and know that I am available and receptive to your questions and concerns. You can call me whether it’s for scheduling an appointment, requesting medication refills, or for guidance and advice on any aspect of your horse’s health. I welcome the opportunity to assist or educate you and will never make you feel like you’ve asked a silly question. You can page me 24/7 if you have a medical emergency that needs immediate attention. I will always be sure another veterinarian is available if I am out of town or unavailable. Need more assurance? Want to speak with me face to face? Would you like to discuss your horse’s medical condition or management? Between now and March 1, call me for a free farm visit and consultation (schedule permitting, physical exams not included). Sometimes there’s no substitute for a personal meeting to solidify the confidence that together we will be an effective health care team for the life of your horse.
